Restaurant

Den Grooten Onzen Here

Guests at Den Grooten Onzen Here, a barbecue restaurant in Poperinge, grill at their own table. I made the site in three languages, with the menus and their prices.

What the site does

I put the Google rating and guest reviews at the top of the page.

  • Menus with prices, from meat and fish to vegetarian and a kids' menu
  • Google rating and guest reviews at the top of the page
  • Frequently asked questions about booking and paying
  • Opening hours, location and tips for a day out in the Westhoek
  • Dutch, French and English

What Hilde says

Our old website was rather dated and no longer up to date. At our restaurant, you grill at your own table over briquettes, and that didn't come across on it. Clovis rebuilt the site from scratch. By mid-June there was a first version with our own photos, the menus and Google reviews, and the English version followed a day later. That was faster than I expected.

Fine-tuning went smoothly too. Updating prices, removing dishes we no longer make (bouillabaisse, tilapia, mussels), correcting the children's price: everything was sorted quickly, even when I came back weeks later with a list.

The site looks the way the place feels: a warm, cream-coloured background, large dark-red headings, a photo of the inn and the menus with prices on one page. Our 4.7 Google rating and review count appear at the top. There are also opening hours with an "open now" indicator, frequently asked questions and a map of the Westhoek to help guests plan a day out.

We paid €445 excluding VAT for the build and €25 per month for the domain, hosting, mailbox and support. The price stayed the same, even when a Westhoek map and route planner were added.

Support didn't stop after launch. In September, Clovis worked on the site again: faster loading, better accessibility, a correct listing on Google and a separate page for each language. These are things I would never think to ask for and don't notice as a guest, but they are part of the job.

What could be better: between late July and September, I saw little happening, and I didn't always know what was planned. I still prefer asking Clovis for small text changes rather than making them in the system myself.

Would I do it again? Yes. The end result is beautiful. I knew in advance what it would cost, and when something needs changing, I get a reply.
